Project Soma — Building a Library for Kaimbaga School
At Kaimbaga Secondary School in Kenya, students are eager to learn, explore, and grow — but resources are limited, and opportunities to study beyond the classroom are few.
That’s why our next initiative, Project Soma (meaning “to read” in Swahili), will focus on building a fully equipped library and learning space at the school.
This project will provide a quiet, welcoming environment where students can read, research, and work independently — something that is currently not possible in their overcrowded classrooms. With shelves filled with textbooks, literature, and digital learning materials, the library will serve as both an academic hub and a space for curiosity and creativity to thrive.
The new library will benefit over 400 students and 25 teachers at Kaimbaga School, as well as younger pupils from nearby primary schools who will be invited to use the space. It will also provide teachers with access to vital resources that support lesson planning and continuous professional development.
Beyond education, the library will become a community asset — a place for workshops, after-school activities, and community learning programmes that promote literacy and opportunity for everyone in the area.
Our fundraising target is £25,000, which will cover the cost of construction, books, furniture, technology, and training.
Every contribution — whether large or small — will help turn this vision into reality.
By supporting Project Soma, you’re helping to create a place where knowledge is shared, confidence is built, and the next generation can dream a little bigger.
📚 Together, we can give Kaimbaga School the library it deserves — a space that inspires learning for years to come.
