Project Royal Flush:
clean and hygienic bathrooms for retca school

On the Map...
Frankadua is a welcoming rural community in Ghana’s Eastern Region, approximately 95 kilometres northeast of the capital, Accra. Located in the Asuogyaman District near Akosombo and the Volta River, it is home to Retca School and several of Village Projects Foundation’s initiatives.
Project Royal Flush — Building a clean toilet facility for retca School
Retca School’s current toilet facilities are dangerously inadequate. They consist of little more than holes in the floor and have become contaminated with cholera, creating a serious health risk for pupils and staff. With no safe, hygienic or private facilities available, children are being exposed to preventable illness simply by using the toilet at school.
Project Royal Flush will fund the construction of a purpose-built toilet block containing 10 individual bathrooms, with separate facilities for boys and girls. The new block will provide clean, private and hygienic toilets, alongside proper handwashing facilities to help prevent the spread of disease.
This project will transform sanitation at Retca School, protect the health of hundreds of children and create a safer, more comfortable learning environment. Although the project has a light-hearted name, the need behind it is extremely serious. Access to a safe toilet should never be a luxury—it is a basic necessity that every child deserves.
